San Tung 2

In San Francisco, we obviously have such a huge selection of Chinese food, but one of the most affordable, most sought after, most top-rated, and probably the BEST places there is, San Tung. They are most famously known for their Dry- Fried Chicken Wings, oh, but the veggie options are JUST as amazing.

To me, asian foods are especially easy to order veggie options from, and San Tung is one of the places that can do it with no questions asked.

Where to go:
San Tung 2 (VERY IMPORTANT!)
1033 Irving St.
San Francisco, CA. 94122
Inner Sunset

What to get:
Dry-Fried Mushrooms (only available at San Tung 2!)

Sweet and tangy with a little spice. The same as what they use with the famous chicken, but even better with the mushrooms.

Dry- Fried String Beans
I don't even know how to explain how amazing these taste, they just are! Its definitely not the healthiest vegetable dish there is, but ugggghhhhhh they're so good!

Noodles in Peanut Sauce
You actually need to ask for this without meat or seafood, but its so yummy! A little spicy, a little creamy, and a little sweet! Definitely different and not what you expect, but worth a try!

Why:
This place is for sure a tourist must, as well as a local favorite. The original restaurant next door is always busy, and the wait is constantly long. The best time to go is on a weekday, preferably for an early dinner or late lunch to ensure a table to yourself, and good service. Not your average go- to chinese spot, but delicious enough to have often as you like. Its just one of those places you have to try to find out why its so amazing.

Very Vegan Sundays

Food trucks. Who doesn't love em right? But vegetarian/ vegan food trucks are hard to come by. This is one of many reasons why I love San Francisco, we love our food, and we love our vegetarians/ vegans!

In our South of Market district, theres a place called the SoMa Streatfood Park where they very often host food truck events for the public, but one Sunday out of the month, they host the Very Vegan Sundays which, needless to say, is an event where food trucks are invited to serve a strictly vegan menu (even though they might not be a vegan food truck). awesoooome!

Where to go:
428 11th St. San Francisco, CA.
One sunday every month (varies)

What to get:
Vendors vary by event, but they normally have vegan beer specials and vegan mimosas.
Some usual vendors (my favorites included) are:

The Sarap Shop: Vegan Filipino food. especially the TOFU SISIG!!!!!

Hella Vegan Eats: Festive vegan cuisine-- the Vegan Chicken and Waffles.......... 'nuff said.

Calpe Paellas: um. Vegan Paella. drool. drool. drool. (you get the gist.)

Why:
Live music, outdoor setting, beer, mimosas, and a large variety of vegan food on a Sunday afternoon. WHY NOT?! Support your local and up-and-coming businesses while you're at it! Good vibes and good karma all in one place!

Doctors Lounge

First of all, BOTTOMLESS MIMOSAS. win!

This out-of-the-ordinary sports bar/lounge is probably the best go-to spot for your weekend brunch with its home-y vibes and of course bay area representation. A little old school 50's mixed with a little bit of new. The adorably sweet and unsurprisingly hilarious "young" host is always a pleasure to see too.

Where to go:
4826 Mission Street SF, CA.  in the Excelsior.

What to get:
Eggs Florentine- poached eggs, spinach & Panorama muffin w/ from scratch Hollandaise sauce.
Morning Sandwich- fried egg topped with cheese and choice of bacon, sausage or avocado on a bun.
and of course, Bottomeless Mimosa or Bloody Mary.

Why:
This joint keeps you coming back simply because of its bottomless mimosas in what should really be wine glasses. For a single glass, they charge $6, so you'd be pretty silly passing up the $12 bottomless deal. Along with the great booze, they have some pretty good food with a decent amount of vegetarian options.
